This one day course will provide police supervisors at all levels and rank with an overview of the legal liability they face as supervisors and leaders. This course will cover Michigan law and Federal Law, including legal theories used against police supervisors and their agencies.  Concepts such as gross negligence, intentional torts, deliberate indifference, and 42 USC Sec 1983 will be discussed, among others.

In addition to providing a legal framework that is essential to understanding your liability as a police supervisor, this course will offer practical techniques and tips that supervisors can utilize to help minimize their own risk, and the risks of their respective agencies.

Instructor:  This course is instructed by the law firm of Keith A Wuotinen, PLC.  Attorney Wuotinen has been licensed by the State Bar of Michigan since 2001 to present, and also has been in law enforcement for over 18 years, where he currently holds the rank of lieutenant at his respective police agency.  His dual careers of law enforcement and attorney makes him uniquely qualified to present this course on police supervisor liability in a manner that is most understandable and beneficial to police supervisors at all levels.  He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, and has been admitted to the Eastern District of Michigan and the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.
